GROWING GUIDE

Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year.  Sow onto the surface of moist, free-draining seed compost (eg. John Innes). Do not cover seed and do not exclude light which is beneficial to germination. Propagate at 13 to 18C in a propagator, greenhouse or on a windowsill indoors sealed in a polythene bag. Germination should begin to take place in 14 to 60 days. As soon as some of the seedlings begin to emerge, ventilate gradually, maintain a temperature of around 13C and take care not to over-water.

Growing Instructions: Grow the seedlings on, shaded lightly from direct sunlight and when large enough to handle, pot up individually into 8 or 9cm pots. When large enough, plant out into well-drained soil in a sunny position. Young plants will need protection from frost for the first few winters. If planted outside, wrap in fleece and if in pots, move to a cold, well-ventilated greenhouse.
