GROWING GUIDE
Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of year. Sow 3mm deep in a moist, free-draining seed compost (eg. John Innes) mixed 50:50 with vermiculite. Propagate at 15-20C in a propagator, greenhouse or on a windowsill indoors sealed in a polythene bag, keeping the compost slightly moist at all times. Germination should take place in 30-90 days. As most of the seedlings begin to emerge, very gradually increase ventilation by opening the propagator vents or the bag.
Growing Instructions: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, pot up individually into 9cm pots and grow on in well-ventilated conditions at about 10 to 15C. When well established, gradually acclimatise to cooler conditions but overwinter in a frost free place at least 5C for the first winter. Repot as necessary. Plant out in the garden in late spring or early autumn in a sunny or semi-shaded position sheltered from cold winds. Allow a spacing of at least 1m on either side. Will need winter protection with fleece in very cold regions.
