GROWING GUIDE

Pre-Sowing Instructions: Soak the seeds for 24 hours in water which starts off hand hot, changing the water every 3 hours when possible.

Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year. Sow in pots at a depth of about 6mm in moist seed compost, eg. John Innes. Place in the fridge or other cold place between 2-5C for 8-10 weeks. [If sowing a large quantity, mix seeds with the compost/vermiculite and place in a resealable bag in the fridge, then sow into pots/trays] Then move to a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain an optimum temperature of 20-25C. Germination can be slow and erratic but should occur after 30-60 days. As the seedlings emerge, gradually increase ventilation by opening the bag or propagator vents.

Growing Instructions: Grow the seedlings on in cooler conditions with plenty of light, but shaded from direct sun, repotting as necessary. Young trees will need winter protection from severe frost for the first couple of winters until well established. Likes a semi-shaded position.
