GROWING GUIDE
Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year. Soak the seeds for 24 hours in water that starts off hand hot. Sow on the surface of a mix of good, free draining damp seed compost (eg. John Innes) and fine horticultural grit or vermiculite. Very lightly cover the seed with sieved compost or vermiculite. Seal inside a polythene bag and place in the fridge at 2-5C for 4 weeks. After this time remove from the fridge and either place in a propagator or leave in the bag and maintain at 20-25C. Germination takes 1-3 months. Check the container regularly to make sure the compost does not dry out and increase ventilation gradually as the seedlings emerge either by opening the bag or propagator vents.
Growing Instructions: When seedlings are large enough to handle, remove them carefully from the container and pot up individually into 7.5cm pots. Grow on in cooler conditions in good, natural light, but avoid direct sunlight. In spring after all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions, before planting out in a sunny position. Protect from frost in winter.
